Coal
A world of History
One of the three main fossil fuels is Coal. Coal is the resource that supplies all the world in many different ways. The years of formation will differ between the different types of coal, lignite bituminous, subbituminous (black lignite) and anthracite are all different types of coal. Coal is then extracted with drills and later used for human use.
What Coal Does
Coal is the fossil fuels that supplies us with electricity. When you burn coal it releases its energy as heat. The heat is captured to make electricity. Disappointingly, when it is burned the fumes are trapped in the atmosphere heating up the earth which results in global warming. Another common use for coal is charcoal. Charcoal is made of coal and is used to help people with there fire but, it is not necessary because we have natural supplies that could easily make a fire (matches may be helpful to do this).
How it is Used
Coal is converted into energy by burning the resource below a pipe with water in.The pipe is then attached to a generator a distance away formally were a power plant or factory is placed. The heat from burning coal turns the water to steam and the steam turns a turbine attached to a generator. The generator is forced to move and the friction sends energy through the electric coils.
